Melon, Muskmelon , single piece
Origin: Egypt
-
Muskmelons are large to medium-sized melons and have a round to oblong shape with blunt, curved ends. There are several types of melons generally labeled as muskmelons, some with beige-green, rough, firm, and warty to lightly ribbed skin. Underneath the surface, the orange flesh is thick, dense, aqueous, and succulent. The flesh is mainly orange, but just below the rind, there is a fine green ring.
-
The muskmelon's flesh has a distinct, sweet, floral, and fruity flavor and is primarily consumed as fresh fruit. The seeds are also edible and are commonly roasted and salted as a savory, nutty snack. You can also make smoothies and ice cream with this kind of melon.
-
Once mature, the melons should be consumed immediately for the best quality and flavor. Muskmelon slices can be stored in the refrigerator in a sealed container for three days.
